The Bhimgarh fort is located in on a hillock in Reasi Town on the bank of river Anji. The fort was built by the famous Dogra General, Zorawar Singh, who repelled the Chinese from Ladakh. The fort has a commanding view of Reasi town. The fort was in a state of total neglect before 1988. In the year 1988, the then  Governor decided  to take up its   beautification out of Vaishno Devi Shrine Board funds to make it a picnic spot for the pilgrims of Vaishno Devi. Since then the fort has acquired a new  look with many people visiting it
