Shri Amarnath Yatra ScheduleShri Amarnath Yatra through the mountains of South Kashmir Himalayas to the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnath is made available only in the months of summer to pay obeisance.
In the month of Shravan (July - August) the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnath has the devout flock, where the image of Lord Shiva, in the form of a Lingam, is formed naturally of ice - stalagmite, and which waxes and wanes with the moon. Shri Amarnath Yatra is for a specific period/ duration, commencing on an announced date, mostly on the auspicious day of Purshotam Purnima as per the Hindu Calendar, and concludse on the day of Shravan Purnima (Raksha Bandhan).
The Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnath is managed by Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) and every year Shri Amarnath Shrine Board’s Sub Committee advises the SASB regarding the exact schedule including the duration of Shri Amarnath Yatra keeping in view various factors like the Hindu calendar, weather conditions, clearing the trek of snow etc.
The number of days once decided by Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, the Yatra schedule is strictly followed from the commencement till the Yatra culmination on Raksha Bandhan each year. 'Chhari Mubarak', the Holy Mace of Lord Shiva, onces reach the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnath on the occasion of 'Raksha Bandhan' marks the culmination of the annual yatra to Shri Amarnath
Shri Amarnath Shrine Board has decided that, this year, a 40 day Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2017 to start on 29th June 2017, an auspicious day (Skandshasthi) as per Hindu Calendar and conclude on 7th August 2017 (on Shravan Purnima, Raksha Bandan).
SASB also decided that 7500 pilgrims would be allowed to Register for Shri Amanath Yatra - 2017 per day per route/ Track (Pahalgam-Chandanwari Track and Sonamarg-Baltal Track). This is excluding Registration that would be done by Yatris travelling by Helicopters on either route to the Holy Cave.
Registration for Shri Amarnath Yatra 2017 started from March 1st, 2017. Registration is done on 'First-Come-First-Serve Basis' against a predefine quota per day per route.
Every Yatri is required to obtain a Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) from the Doctors/ Hospitals nominated by respective State and UTs before applying for getting a Shri Amarnath Yatra Permit.
